VISION STATEMENT

A learning environment that utilizes the integration of technology into the curriculum will create a community of lifelong learners. The establishment of this environment will provide the skills and competencies to succeed in an information age characterized by constant change.

To fully realize their benefits, technological resources must be integrated into educational practices. The use of technological resources enhances the quality and expands the scope of the learning experience for students of all ages and needs.

Technology is changing rapidly; therefore, educators must anticipate change and continually update their technological skills and resources. The ability to use technology to access and process information is an essential skill to function in our society. Every learner, regardless of economic or social status, age, or special needs, must have equitable access to a wide range of information and technological resources as part of a quality education. Coordination and cooperation among educators and educational systems promote practices that use technology effectively, efficiently, and equitably.

MISSION STATEMENT

Winona Public School District has determined that use of technology in the educational process will enable the students to develop the skills that they must have for an ever-changing world. By utilizing technology as a tool, teachers, administrators and support staff will become more efficient and effective in facilitating and managing the learning environment.

The goal of the Winona Public School District is to prepare students to be successful and productive citizens in their work, community and leisure activities. Today’s students will face a workplace and a society in which technology will play a key role. Skill in the use and understanding of technology will be essential for survival in all aspects of life in the future. Students in the Winona Public School District will develop the ability, through the use of technology, to define our new world.

Technology is a powerful tool in the educational process. It can produce, manage, and assist in the analysis of student data regarding performance and aptitude. It also allows teachers to communicate with each other and with their students. Teachers and students will become partners in learning. Because students are exposed to technology from early childhood educators must utilize new methods of reaching students. The lecture method of teaching will no longer be sufficient to impart knowledge to students. Teachers will play the role of facilitator for learning in the future. To accomplish this goal all employees must continually update their skills in the use of technology and their technological resources. They must constantly learn about new types of technology and new ways to use the latest technology.

The Winona Public School District will develop partnerships with the corporate and private sector, including government agencies, business and industry, other educational institutions, students and their families, cultural and recreational providers to make learning opportunities meet the need for well-trained employees and community leaders.
